Maggie Gorter
MA / tLMHC
Therapist

Hello and welcome! My name is Maggie and I’m a temporary Licensed Mental Health Counselor (tLMHC). I specialize in supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, panic disorder, OCD, depression, life transitions, and relationship challenges. I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Upper Iowa University.
I have experience working with clients ages 12 and up, with a special passion for helping teens and young adults navigate the unique challenges of school, college, relationships, and early adulthood. My approach is person-centered and collaborative, integrating evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness practices, and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).
At the heart of my work is creating a respectful, authentic, and nonjudgmental space where you feel seen and valued. I am deeply committed to social justice advocacy and LGBTQ+ allyship, and I believe in honoring the strengths, identities, and lived experiences you bring into therapy.
Outside of counseling, I love spending time with family and friends, whether that’s sharing meals, catching up over coffee, or simply enjoying each other’s company. I feel most at peace outdoors, kayaking on the water, hiking local trails, and exploring new places in nature. I also enjoy reading, listening to podcasts, and finding small ways to slow down and recharge.
No matter what challenges you’re facing, growth and healing are possible. Together, we’ll explore your story, identify what matters most to you, and build practical strategies for resilience and change. Reaching out for support is a brave step, I look forward to connecting with you!
